Knox Grammar School and Abbotsleigh
Print Exchange
30 May to 12 June 2024
Collaboration between Abbotsleigh and Knox Grammar School Visual Arts students and artists Michael Kempson and Gary Shinfield
The opening will be held on Thursday 30 May from 5 – 6.30pm.
The Print Exchange collaborative initiative involved Visual Arts students from Abbotsleigh and Knox Grammar School working with established printmakers Michael Kempson and Gary Shinfield.
Through regular meetings this group explore traditional and contemporary approaches to printing through processes such as etching, block printing and monoprinting. In this exchange students engage with the practicing artists and participated in workshops and demonstrations.
The exhibition in the Grace Cossington Smith Gallery will show works by students as well as works by the artists and from Cicada Press. In presenting this exhibition students learn about curatorial practice, communicating with the public, promotion and publication.
Student works are for sale. Sales will be donated to Abbox – the annual four day (three night) residential holiday camp for children with special needs co-hosted by Abbotsleigh and Knox Grammar School, in partnership with The Sony Foundation. The December camp is an opportunity for the children who attend to have fun activities and the families have some important respite time. There is no cost to participants for this camp.
